Anyone out there? Is everyone prepared?

Post by hawkiye on Fri 17 Oct 2008, 10:15 am

Haven't seen anyone in a while here I haven't posted for a while myself. I know it's redudent but is everyone prepared? What do we need to do here at this site to get it moving. I don't have a lot of time at the moment but I am open to suggestions if anyone cares to give any?

I would think now would be a good time for this site to grow and help get people prepared. I would love to get it hoping like DP but we need more people for that... Spread the word if you think it worth while...

prepared

Post by paul4won on Tue 21 Oct 2008, 7:36 am

I had to stop everything and get prepared. We spent the last year trying to save the Constitution, but when the bailout was signed and the sleeple snored right on through the end of our nation, we got a bit selfish. We are in the process of getting off the grid now, and will happily share our efforts, but... no one seems interested. An interesting end to the "r3volution." All these "libertarian minded" people who do not really want the responsibility that goes with true liberty: self reliance.
Are you coming out this weekend? There are conversations that I just won't put on the internet any more. The electronic trail I want to leave behind at this point is "OK, global socialism works for me." I am working hard to accept this paradox: The majority of the sleeple (even many who fancy themselves awake) want to try socialism, so the democratic thing to do is try it, right? The thing I hang on to and pretend is "hope" is that after a few years of it, they will finally understand that it does NOT really mean that a good, benevolent government is going to take care of them. THEN they will be ready to try to restore their liberties.

I think that the most easy way to get started is to exchange goods and services. (ok, I may be out of sync with people who want to be off the grid sooon Smile , my apologies) The features of a forum to exchange goods and services will have to support atleast these features:

  1. A list of members. ( yahoo groups has such a feature. On this forum I do not see that correct me if I'm wrong )
  2. Member details such as location, services or goods they can offer on a continuous basis. ( i.e the members profession).
  3. A posting section where if an individual wants something, or has something to offer onetime he can do it. For example www.freecycle.org uses yahoo groups effectively. When somebody wants something the posting is labeled WANTED: or if somebody has something to offer it's labled OFFER:
  4. A means to vouch for a member's integrity ( I see that linkedin has such a feature)
Since this forum/list may not satisfy all above needs (again correct me if i'm wrong) we need to explore other social networking sites to be used in tandem with this forum. May I suggest www.facebook.com , www.linkedin.com and yahoo groups in to start with? We can do a test run with these site and discard ones that do not suit our needs. If people are willing to do the test run let me know we will need at least 3 people in all.

I assume you mean one could be made? Yes this forum layout would suffice for one off things that one wants to trade. Is there a way to look up all members and goods/services that they may have to offer on a continous basis? ( like for example a laywer)

It's already set up, click on the home link on the top left. Second to the last forum on the bottom.

Thanks Hawkiye - that would suffice for one off things that one wants to trade. We also need a a list of people and their professions - any suggestions? ( I suggested linkedin and facebook). Am I focusing on something that others think is unnecessary?
